Hello! My name is Resa! I’m an aquatic-themed creator that also is an award-winning competitive cosplayer and convention staff member. This year I am hosting my first online Halloween casual cosplay contest! The goal is to encourage more people to try out cosplay, support, learn from each other, and create human-made art! We look forward to seeing your submissions!

🐙 Additional Video Voting Contest Requirements:

  • 2 minutes maximum (including intro/credits/bloopers)
  • Specs: 720p/1080p/4K (no lower than 720p), 30fps, 16:9 or 9:16 , .mp4 or .mov 
  • Stock photos/VFX/SFX are permitted, but no generative AI is allowed to create your video.
  • No minors are allowed to appear in the video.
  • You must provide written permission from everyone appearing in the video- DM screenshots are allowed. 
  • If you include copyrighted music, be aware that we may have to remove your audio in the VOD afterwards.
  • Please be safe when filming- no unsafe stunts or shooting in prohibited/dangerous areas. 
  • You may upload your video before the contest livestream. Older videos, live performances, masquerade skits, dance covers, & comedy videos are also allowed, provided there are no minors and that everyone in the performance gives permission to be entered. 

🐙Judges' Choice: 

  • If you self-made at least 50% of your cosplay, you can be considered for Judges’ Choice. We encourage you to select that on your application and provide WIP photos/buildbook.
  • During the livestream, the judges will pick their personal favorite.

🐙AWARDS:
Your choice of a free art commission, a free custom nail art press-on set, or free photoshoot with Resa as the cameraperson. 

Note: 

  • Art commissions will be of a colored character or ship (4 or less characters) of your choice on a blank or simple colored background and will be sent to you as a high resolution png. You will receive sketches before the final artwork. Explicit NSFW art requests are allowed.
  • Custom nail press-on sets will only be sent to those with a mailing address in the state of California (outside of California or international addresses may need to check your state/country rules on nail polish products or have other limitations). In the follow-up award email, I will provide you instructions on how to measure your nails and we will go over what you would like commissioned. 
  • Photoshoots- These will be within the Bay Area, California. In the follow-up award email, I will give you additional information on scheduling and how I can make the experience best for you. I can do both dry land and underwater photoshoots.  
  • As these are custom commissions handmade by Resa, they may take 2-3 months to complete.

🐙RULES:
These rules are intended to promote fair competition and provide a safe, enjoyable experience
for participants, staff, judges, guests, and audience members. All participants are expected to
follow these rules and the directions of Cosplay Contest staff. Failure to do so may result in
disqualification or removal from the competition.

  • Contestants must be 18+ years old. Any minors shown will automatically disqualify your entry.
  • Contestants may not alter their skin tone with makeup, paint, etc. to another human skin tone. We will address this on a case-by-case basis, and it may ultimately result in immediate expulsion from the Cosplay Contest. 
  • Characters from NSFW/18+ series are allowed, however all contestants must wear enough clothing to not violate indecent exposure laws. This will be livestreamed on YouTube/Twitch, so sensitive areas must be sufficiently covered; for example swimsuit coverage.
  • Hate speech of any type (Political, non-political, quotes, etc.) will not be permitted at this Cosplay Contest in any way. Hate Speech is defined as “abusive or threatening speech or writing that expresses prejudice on the basis of ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or similar grounds.” ~ Oxford Dictionary.
  • Harassment, intimidation, or disparagement of any kind towards Cosplay Contest contestants, judges, or staff, whether in person or online, will not be tolerated and may lead to immediate disqualification, removal from the event, and/or a ban from future entry.
  • Generative AI of any kind is prohibited.
  • As this is a Halloween Cosplay Contest, gore and graphic violence is allowed. However, please see the rule about hate speech and altering your skin tone. If the host and judges believe your entry violates the rules or Twitch/YouTube’s TOS, we may have to disqualify it.
  • Costumes that have already won awards are allowed to enter this Cosplay Contest.
  • You may enter more than 1 category, but you can only submit 1 cosplay per category.
  • Characters can be from any franchise. Fanart and original designs are permitted as long as you credit the original designer. 
  • Costumes do not need to be handmade- closet cosplays and store-bought cosplays are allowed.  If you are entering a commissioned cosplay, you may not take credit for the original creator’s work. However, self-made costumes (50% minimum) are encouraged if you are interested in a Judges’ Choice award. 
  • Even if attire does not specifically break the rules listed here, we reserve the right to request that you modify your entry or disqualify you.

You retain full ownership of your photos and videos. The host and judges do not own any of the photos or videos you submit to us and we will not be selling nor submitting them to any machine learning products. You may withdraw at any time.
You are aware that this will be livestreamed and shared publicly on Twitch/YouTube/Instagram and viewers may take screenshots/screenrecordings. The hosts and judges may also use clips of their reactions to your entry, with full credit to you.
