3 Tips on How to Party Safely

Hello and welcome to summer vacation for most people! It's a time of traveling, sightseeing, and, of course, partying. Now, "partying/clubbing" and "safety", don't seem to go hand in hand. Especially considering how much media is put into the nasty sides of it- bar fights, sexual assault, etc. However, there IS a way to party... safely.

1. Try not go alone. There is power in groups; one or two people to ensure that they know who you are, where you are, and whether or not you're ok, and if a car is needed, you'll have a designated driver .

2. Know your drinking limits and watch out for your drinks. Date rape drugs can be odorless, tasteless, and invisible.  Also, I feel that it may be ok to share drinks, as long as, of course, you know where that drink went. I would recommend against alcohol poisoning as well.

3. It may be fine to leave your empty jacket in the coat room, however keep all important personal items on you at all times, whether this be in an inside pocket or your underwear (bras and panties/boxers waistbands actually are good makeshift pockets).

Bonus: This is generally targeted towards all genders. However, I'd also like to believe in the honesty of mankind and that any female-identifying person should not be afraid and have to carry pepper spray/weapons or be slut shamed for wearing the wrong clothing. Very soon, though, I'm going to play devil's advocate by writing an opposite side to this entry.

Enjoy the weather and have fun partying!
